After Iloilo City joined the China Maritime Silk Road International Brand Expo, which took place last month in Quanzhou, the Iloilo City Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office (LEIPO) said they are expecting to participate in similar global events in the future.

“We have so many invitations [to] even bigger cities such as Xiamen and Beijing—they wanted to invite us,” insisted LEIPO head Ritchel Gavan. “There was also a Greek businessman who said he was interested in bringing our products to Europe.”

“We have these potential venues in selling products,” she added.

The city official also noted, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, a  foreign trade and investment promotion agency, expressed interest in organizing a forum in China to promote products from Iloilo City.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Business Club Executive Director Lea Lara said buyers were interested in turmeric, butterscotch made from mangoes, sweets, chocolate, local tea, and textiles./WDJ
