Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III officiated a mass wedding yesterday, where 11 couples exchanged vows.
The event was organized by the Iloilo City Population Office and took place at the Iloilo City Hall Penthouse 1.
“Government has the obligation to protect the family and make sure everyone in the family is protected,” the mayor said. “According to our law, marriage is permanent, that is why, as couples, you should value your marriage and make sure that it will work.”
The next mass wedding is scheduled for next month.
“We offer this mass wedding to indigent couples in city,” explained Population Program Officer III Rachel Lapascua. “Interested couples should personally visit [the] Civil Registry Office to apply for marriage license.”/WDJ
