The suspected supplier for slain Bacolod City-based drug lord Ramy Poja was killed yesterday morning in a shootout with anti-drug operatives from the Victorias City police and Bacolod City Police Office-City Intelligence Unit at the Estrella Subdivision in Barangay 6, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the fatality as Leoner Jalandoon, a resident of the said area.
In addition, operatives also arrested Jalandoon’s live-in partner, Janine Cruz, a native of Barangay 16 in Bacolod City.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office director, Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, said Jalandoon is considered as “high-value drug target” on the regional level and claimed the suspect opened fire at police, forcing them to return fire, and killing the suspect on the spot.
A search of the suspect’s residence yielded a total 100 sachets of suspected shabu with a market value of P2.7 million.
The police official added, Jalandoon was the primary supplier of illegal drugs for Poja, who was killed in a police operation last year in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago.
Jalandoon’s live-in partner has since been placed under police custody at the Victorias City Police Station for further investigation./DGB, WDJ
