Comelec: Vote counting machines
under heavy police guard
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City said vote counting machines (VCMs) to be used for the May 13 midterm elections are being heavily guarded by police.
Comelec-Bacolod elections supervisor, Atty. Ann Janette Lamban, refused to say where the machines are presently stored but affirmed they would be distributed to various polling stations across the city on May 9, with final testing and sealing to be conducted the following day.
The last batch of personnel set to serve as electoral boards in the upcoming polls are also expected to wrap up their seminar on how to use the VCMs.
Under new Comelec guidelines, those registered can vote from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Electoral boards will be ordered to polling precincts by 3:00 a.m. in order to ensure everything is in working order and that they have the correct ballots.
Bacolod City currently has a total 312,816 registered voters./DGB, WDJ
