Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz captured three silver medals in the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships, which opened in Ningbo, China over the weekend. The Zamboanga City native picked up her medals in the women’s 55 kg division, medaling in the snatch, clean and jerk, and overall events.

“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nag-pray sa laro ko, silver medalist po ako (Many thanks to everybody who prayed for my performance – I’m a silver medalist),” Diaz wrote on social media. “Medyo malayo pa ako sa target ko madami pang kailangan i-improve (It’s a bit far-off from my target and there is a lot that I need to improve).”

When competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she won silver in women’s 53 kg weightlifting category.

Liao Qiuyun of China won gold in all three events.
