around 20% complete –DPWH-6
The Department of Public Works and Highway-Region VI (DPWH-6) recently noted, after “construction has been going on for around three years” on the 41-kilometer Panay East-West Lateral Road, which will connect Antique, Iloilo, and Capiz, they have completed around eight kilometers, approximately 20 percent.
According to DPWH-6 assistant director Al Fruto, the project, which has a budget of P2.6 billion, is expected to be completed “within five years.”
He noted, once finished, the project will provide a boost to the local agri-eco tourism industry.
Earlier, a 15.3-kilometer road linking the Iloilo towns of Dingle, San Enrique, and Anilao opened with Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. leading the inauguration from Dingle’s Barangay Moroboro.
The road, which cost P162 million, was a prize for the province winning the Department of the Interior and Local Government Seal of Good Local Governance./WDJ
