Kaya FC-Iloilo faces PSM Makassar of Indonesia’s Liga 1 today in the ongoing 2019 AFC Cup group stage at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City. In their previous meeting, the two clubs, which are currently tied atop Group H, played to a 1-1 draw.
“I think we all know the importance of this game – the result will determine who will be [on] top of the group,” said Kaya FC head coach Noel Marcaida. “It was a really tough game the last time around.”
“PSM were really dangerous whenever they received the ball in front of our defensive line,” he added. “It was not our best performance but, with the heart [shown] by the players, we were able to force a draw.”
In their last match, after PSM Makassar was awarded a penalty in the 56th minute, which was successfully converted by striker Eero Markkanen, Kaya FC midfielder Marwin Angeles came up with an equalizer deep into stoppage time.
“We’ve been training really hard,” the midfielder noted. “We know already what to do so we just need to do our job, try to win the game, and bring more confidence for the next games.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m./ASC, WDJ
