The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) is currently on “heightened alert” in preparation for the Holy Week observance.
PDRRMO head Zeaphard Caelian said he has ordered all personnel to install assistance desks at beach resorts and churches across the province.
Caelian also said first responders will also join processions in order to administer first aid to anyone that falls ill or is injured.
He also echoed similar advice from local police, stating, the public should avoid posting their whereabouts on social media and, when away, to ensure all electronics in their homes are unplugged in order to avoid fire.
The provincial official further added, those taking the roads this holiday season should also conduct checks on their vehicles before leaving to avoid breakdowns.
Caelian also advised those heading to beach resorts to only choose those accredited by the Department of Tourism or those with on-duty lifeguards accredited and trained by the Philippine Coast Guard./DGB, WDJ
