Amid an impending water crisis brought about by El Niño, which AccuWeather describes as a climate pattern that raises sea temperatures in the Pacific Ocean and results in drought conditions due to reduced rainfall, the Iloilo City government directed the General Services Office (GSO) to take account of the city’s water tanks.
According to Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III, there are 39 barangays that are susceptible to a potential water crisis.
He said, where the GSO assessment found there to be a large inventory of tanks capable of distribution, the city is still looking at the “manner” in which water is distributed; along with possibly finding an alternative source for water.
“Save on water,” the mayor advised.
