TNT KaTropa survived a furious endgame run by the Columbian Dyip to eke out a 101-98 victory in the 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup last night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
After being up by as much as 18 points, KaTropa found their advantage trimmed to 94-91 off a strong fourth quarter run by the Dyip. TNT, however, answered with hits from Kelly Williams and Yousef Taha to increase their lead to 101-93.
Columbian Dyip made its last push to come to within 101-98 as Negrense John Paul Calvo drained two free throws from a deliberate foul by KaTropa’s Harvey Carey and a triple from Rashawn McCarthy.
The Dyip had a chance to win the match after a turnover by KaTropa’s Jayson Castro but TNT tightened its defense in the final 19 seconds to force McCarthy to miss two three-point tries.
