After previously reporting drops in the local crime rate, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) revealed data showing criminal incidents in the second week of March saw a drop when compared to the previous year. A total of 45 criminal incidents were reported between March 8 and 14, a drop from the 63 recorded during the same period last year.

Citing a similar explanation for earlier drops in the crime rate, ICPO operations head, Police Major Ruel F. Firmo, credited police visibility.

“ICPO ensures the deployment of police personnel in every area of responsibility,” he stated.

“We also had our saturation drives, anti-smoking, and enforcement of city ordinances,” the law enforcement official added./WDJ
