Portions of the local area were rocked by earthquakes throughout the day.
The first tremor struck a few minutes before 2:00 a.m. as a 2.1-magnitude quake was recorded in the waters off Basay, Negros Oriental. Later in the day, around 10:30 a.m., a 2.5-magnitude quake struck just north of San Joaquin, Iloilo; while a 1.8-magnitude earthquake was detected south of Jordan, Guimaras around 4:33 p.m.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, no damages were reported nor were there aftershocks expected.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
