After 10 Negrense students were granted three-year scholarships to study at Japan’s Miyakonojo Higashi High School last December, the second batch of 10 students departed for Japan over the weekend.
The students will be taking general health and automotive courses.
A fellowship and farewell dinner was recently held at the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) Training Center in Bago City, which was attended by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.; Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson; acting Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Dr. Lucille Gelvolea; OISCA Director Shigemi Watanabe; among others.
Watanabe said the previous batch of students are doing very well and assured parents the students will be safe while overseas. Meanwhile, the governor reiterated comments made during the last send off and challenged the latest batch to “surpass” their predecessors./WDJ
