athlete wins two gold medals

Jamie Hannah Agaloos of Bacolod City yesterday won two gold medals in the taekwondo competition of the 2019 Batang Pinoy Visayas qualifying leg, which took place at Robinsons Place Pavia.

“It’s a dream come true for me to win a medal here,” she said. “I am now qualified for the national finals.

Agaloos won gold medals in the junior female individual and team poomsae events, which are comprised of basic attack and defense motions associated with the martial art.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental athlete Franzine Alamo won gold in the girls’ long jump last Wednesday, Kate Julienne Martinez of Bago City swept javelin throw and discus events, while Bacolod City’s Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon took silver in the 200-meter dash.

Negros Occidental finished the competition with 10 gold, six silver, and two bronze medals.
