The Negros Occidental secondary boys’ 3×3 basketball team repeated as champions of the ongoing 2019 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet, which is currently taking place in Roxas City, Capiz. The team comprised of Andy Villaver, Ralph Cagalawan, Kent Esparagoza, and Rommel Hechanova defeated Iloilo, 18-13, in the finals.

The team completed the competition with an undefeated record.

While WVRAA serves as a qualifier for the Palarong Pambansa, which takes place this year in Davao City, there will be no 3×3 basketball event in this year’s competition.

“It [is] very unfortunate na hindi kasali ang 3×3 basketball sa Palarong Pambansa (It’s unfortunate 3×3 basketball is not included in Palarong Pambansa),” said Negros Occidental head coach Dexter Dy. “I still [laud] our players for achieving the goal of championship.”/ASC, WDJ
