The Negros Occidental Provincial Board recently approved a resolution supporting the implementation of measles quick response activities to address the ongoing measles outbreak.
According to the resolution, the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) for the Western Visayas issued an advisory calling on the need to interrupt transmission of measles, stressing the necessity for “catch-up immunizations” and to strengthen measles surveillance advocacy.
It also noted, localities within Negros Occidental are urged to convene their respective health boards in order to implement quick response activities.
Provincial Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko said the provincial board moved its regular session to Monday instead of Wednesday as a majority of its members were in Metro Manila attending the Councilors’ League Convention./DGB, WDJ
