Negros Occidental gubernatorial candidate, incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, yesterday revealed he will be endorsing senatorial candidates based on where they are from, specifically, Negrense candidates.
Lacson said he will be casting his votes for Magdalo partylist Rep. Gary Alejano; former Department of the Interior and Local Government Rafael Alunan; former Bayan Muna partylist Rep. Neri Colmenares; 2016 presidential candidate Mar Roxas; and incumbent Senator JV Ejercito, whose mother, San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez, is originally from Bacolod City.
He called on voters to support “our fellow Negrenses.”
The vice governor noted, his political coalition, Love Negros, has not yet met to formally endorse candidates.
Despite forming a “unity ticket” with the United Negros Alliance, the two factions will be releasing separate endorsement lists.
Meanwhile, Lacson also expressed his appreciation for the 10 senators who signed a resolution opposing plans to liberalize the importation of sugar.
The vice governor said he wants to elect senators who will “defend the sugar industry.”/DGB, WDJ
