Ko, Montelibano unopposed in Provincial Board race

Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko and Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano are considered “sure winners” for the two spots on the Provincial Board representing the third district.

Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Salud Milagros Villanueva said, with former Negros Occidental Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan withdrawing from the race, the two face no opposition for the posts.

Recently, Ko has been involved with chairing meetings to evaluate the province’s dependence on coal, which will determine the fate of the proposed coal-fired power plant in San Carlos City; along with drafting the board resolution opposing the planned liberalization of the sugar industry./DGB, WDJ
