The US Embassy in the Philippines recently revealed an Antique youth leader is one of 16 students selected to participate in the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship for Spring 2019.
John Carl Alonsagay will be taking part in a five-week program in the United States with a focus on environment and natural resources management.
According to the US Mission to ASEAN, the program provides “academic residency, leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with American peers.”
The embassy notes, Alonsagay’s field will include topics such as natural resource management, sustainable development/sustainable agricultural practices, food security, ecotourism, energy generation, and water management and treatment.
Other fields eligible student can study include civic engagement, and entrepreneurship and economic development.
The YSEALI Academic Fellowship also runs in the fall./WDJ
