The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution earlier this week calling on the Office of the Building Official and City Legal Office to enforce City Ordinance No. 647, Series of 2013, or “The Outdoor Advertising Signs and Sign Structures Code of Bacolod City.”

According to the legislation, authored by Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito, “There are still billboards found [along] major streets of the city that are not compliant with provisions of the ordinance.”

The local legislative body is requesting for certain billboards to be inspected to ensure their owners were issued the appropriate permits.

The ordinance went on to describe such billboards as “unsafe, hazardous, and pose danger to passers-by and motorists.”

The existing policy requires the said city government departments to either issue cease and desist orders to the offenders or order removal of the posting./WDJ
