I recently attended a simple gathering to celebrate “golden lady” Evelyn Alayon-Javellana, who has, over the years, struggled, persevered, practiced patience and humility, and eventually earning modest success with a happy life and family. She and her loving husband, Doc Joe Javellana, who is always on hand for family matters, joined their kids in laughing, chatting, and embraces.

Alayon-Javellana prepared a sumptuous dinner for her closest relatives and friends. I was lucky enough to be included and got the chance to meet new faces; some turned out to be relatives of my dear one (she is a Javellana).

The smell of the charcoal-broiled roasted calf filled the party tent, which was situated on family’s greenery, with flowers blooming all around.

The lady turned golden by offering a simple token of appreciation for her close-knit family and the Almighty’s blessings./WDJ
