Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) survived a tough challenge from San Beda University in their 62-56 win in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League semifinals last Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Ilonggo Ferdinand ‘Thirdy’ Ravena III led the victory with 14 points; with Angelo Kouame putting up 13 points, 18 rebounds, and eight blocks.
AdMU surged to an early 41-24 advantage; however, San Beda responded with James Canlas and Donald Tankoua forcing a 55-55 deadlock with over two minutes left in the game.
The eventual winners regained the lead after a three-point play by Kouame, before Ravena sealed the victory with a three-pointer with 22.9 seconds left in the game.
The win pits AdMU against the University of Visayas in the knockout championship game, which takes place tonight./ASC, WDJ
