accreditation
The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently reported around 307 lodging establishments on Boracay are now accredited.
According to policies implemented after the island was shut down last year due to environmental reasons, businesses are required to comply by agency standards or they will not be allowed to operate.
“In order to uphold tourism standards, establishments [engaged] in [the] tourism business must secure DOT accreditation,” DOT-Region VI director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, noted.
The number of accredited establishments means there are a total 10,982 rooms available at the popular tourist destination./WDJ
