Food festival seeks to offer ‘the best of Iloilo’

The annual Dinagyang Food Festival, which is set to run from January 24 to 27 along Delgado Street in Iloilo City, already has 25 confirmed participants for the event promising to offer “the best of Iloilo.”

“We are expecting additional participants within the week,” said Happy Abenir, who is in charge of the food festival. “We will be providing good food, or the best of what Iloilo has to offer, and live entertainment.”

“We offer a lot of things in the area para ang pamilya niyo kung magkadto kamo ang mga bisita niyo can be safe, happy, and secure (We offer a lot of things in the area for your family and visitors, if they come here, to be safe, happy, and secure),” she added.

Abenir noted, while prices on food are incumbent on the vendor, prices on drinks and beer are fixed.

She also pointed out, while restaurants are trying to introduce new offerings, particularly Ilonggo dishes, grilled foods and fresh seafood remain the more popular items.

“Kung ano ang specialty nila sa ila store amo man na ang ila gina-promote para ang mga bisita na hindi taga diri can also try what is really Ilonggo (Regardless of the store’s specialty, they are promoting for visitors from outside the province to try what is really Ilonggo,” Abenir added.

Meanwhile, she also assured all members are compliant with the memorandum circular regarding health and sanitation.

“We are required, as an association, to post health cards for their employees and sanitation permits because City Health inspects our areas,” Abenir affirmed. “For the past four years, [this has been] part of the standard operating procedure.”/WDJ
