IDFI: New Freedom Grandstand ‘almost ready’ for festivities

According to the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI), the new Freedom Grandstand, located along Muelle Loney Street and facing the Iloilo River, is on its last stages of construction and could be inaugurated ahead of the 2019 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival, which takes place next month.

“I heard [Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III] is already preparing to inaugurate the new Freedom Grandstand before Dinagyang,” said IDFI chairman Ramon Cua-Locsin, although he was unable to provide an exact date.

The venue, which sits on 2,600 square meters and projected to have a seating capacity of 4,000, is expected to host the Kasadyahan contest on January 26 and the Ati-Ati tribes competition on January 27.

The new facility is also expected to include a multi-purpose building, which will house some city government offices./WDJ
