A fetus, estimated to be around seven months old, was discovered yesterday morning at Purok Langka in Barangay Zone 1, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Murcia municipal police chief, Police Chief Inspector Roberto Indiape, said the baby, whom they identified as a girl, was discovered by local residents who immediately notified police.

Based on initial investigations, he said it is possible the fetus was aborted and thrown into the creek until it was finally carried by the current to where it was discovered.

Indiape said they are presently coordinating with barangay officials to identify the mother./DGB, WDJ
