The suspects involved with the grenade found at the home owned by Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) President Dwight Carbon have yet to be identified.
In a radio interview yesterday morning, Murcia municipal police chief, Police Chief Inspector Roberto Indiape, said he has yet to have a second meeting with Carbon following the incident, but reiterated the Ceneco official affirmed he had not received any threats to his life prior to the incident.
Indiape said the grenade failed to explode even though the safety and firing pins were removed.
He believes the explosive device malfunctioned.
The Carbon family, meanwhile, has sought police assistance in order to ensure the incident does not happen again.
Last Monday, Carbon’s household helper, Arsenia Abong, was sweeping the front area of the residence when she discovered the unexploded grenade on the ground.
She immediately contacted police of the find.
The police explosive ordnance disposal unit later disarmed and recovered the explosive device.
Police also managed to retrieve closed-circuit television footage showing two men on a motorcycle roaming the area and tossing the device./DGB, WDJ
