Two Bacolod City students earned medals at the 8th International Youth Mathematicians Convention, which came to a close last week in Lucknow, India.

In the individual competition Hans Benedict Gaw Te of Bacolod Tay Tung High School took home gold, while Sanielle Meliz Ong of Saint John’s Institute earned silver.

The event also included team and relay competitions.

Ong competed alongside siblings Cristina Beatrice Mallari and Cristina Bianca Mallari of St. Paul College-Pasig as Senior-Philippines C to capture the team competition.

Meanwhile, Gaw Te, alongside Patrick Niño Policarpio of Far Eastern University Senior High School and Ma. Erica Therese Santos of Senator Renato Compañero Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School, finished second in the team competition as Senior-Philippines B.
