In response to Negros Occidental provincial government employee appeals for more bonuses this holiday season following the earlier release of their 14th month pay, the provincial government assured their workers would receive additional funding this week.
In a radio interview, Provincial Budget Officer Percival Salado, Jr. said funding was compiled from the province’s savings, noting, this year’s savings were much higher.
He affirmed bonuses will be even higher, stating, they would not be less than P40,000.
The provincial official added, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. will approve his recommendation for a bigger bonus since it is his last term in office.
Earlier, the governor signed a resolution forwarded to him by the Provincial Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE), who are seeking the release of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) incentive bonus.
Acting Provincial Administrator, Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, earlier noted it is unclear if CNA cash incentives or other awards would be disbursed as they must ensure compliance with Department of Budget and Management regulations.
PACE Treasurer Ruben Diamante said he is sure releasing the said bonuses would not break any regulations./DGB, WDJ
