A 72-year-old man was killed after he was reportedly struck by a pick-up truck over the weekend along the national highway in Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City.

Police identified the fatality as Jose Travena, a resident of Purok Masinadyahon in the said barangay.

Kabankalan City Police Station traffic investigators said Travena was standing on the side of the road waiting for a tricycle when he was hit by a speeding pick-up truck.

Travena was thrown to the ground and struck his head on the gutter.

The truck, meanwhile, fled the area leaving Travena unconscious until succumbing to his head injuries.

Police are presently investigating the incident./DGB, WDJ
