Negros Oriental experienced two Sunday night earthquakes with a 2.5.magnitude tremor striking west of Valencia at 8:20 p.m. and a 2.1-magnitude quake occurring just east of Mabinay around 9:54 p.m.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, there were no reported damages as a result of either incident, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor.
The day before the two quakes struck the province, seismic activity measuring 2.2 in magnitude was recorded in Guihulngan City./WDJ
