Tractorco, a company specializing in the sale of various farm equipment, will hold its 3rd Agrimechanica event next week, December 12, at Sitio Mambukog in Barangay Zone 16, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

In a press conference yesterday, Tractorco President David Lockhart said they will hold exhibitions for their farm equipment as well as seminars.

The event, which will also serve as an “open day” for customers looking to buy new farm equipment, aims to promote not just their products but also farm mechanization.

The company is also promoting various ways to improve the agricultural sector, such as farming imported grass, which could either be used for biofuel or to address the nutritional needs of livestock.

Lockhart noted, over the past few years, there has been a shortage of labor in farming and called farm mechanization the answer to the labor shortage.

He also took members of the media on a tour of their Talisay City shop and introduced several of the products.

According to Lockhart, approximately 10 percent of their customers are overseas Filipino workers who have either set up their own farms or are engaged in contract services, such as harvesting and planting for farms.

He also noted, their products are specifically designed for “Philippine conditions.”

The event is also expected to be attended by representatives from the Department of Agriculture and University of the Philippines-Los Baños, which specializes in agricultural courses and research./DGB, WDJ
