Police are currently awaiting results of a medical examination done on a seven-year-old child who was allegedly raped last Tuesday afternoon by a neighbor at Purok Kamatis in Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay City.
Sipalay City police refused to name the victim but identified the suspect as 20-year-old John Tenorio.
Sipalay City police chief, Police Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, said, based on initial investigations by the station’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk, the victim was reportedly brought to a river near their home, where suspect proceeded to sexually molest the minor.
Grande said the victim was left alone at home as their parents work at the city’s public market.
Tenorio was later arrested after the station conducted a follow-up operation.
Charges of statutory rape are now being prepared against the suspect, who remains locked up at the Sipalay City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
