Hinoba-an shook by tremor Saturday night
A 4.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded early Saturday morning west of Valencia, Negros Oriental.
According to a bulletin by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), seismic activity was recorded just before 3:00 a.m. with no damage reported as a result of the incident, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
The United States Geological Survey notes earthquakes ranging between 4.0 and 4.9 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 4 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where the tremor is more noticeable indoors, with a feeling similar to a heavy truck striking a building.
An early morning 2.4-magnitude tremor also struck west of the said town earlier this month.
Meanwhile, a 2.5-magnitude earthquake struck Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental Saturday night, with Phivolcs also reporting no damage reported as a result of the incident, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks./WDJ
