A motorcyclist was instantly killed yesterday morning after riding-in-tandem gunmen opened fire in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City.
Police identified the fatality as 45-year-old Ramiro Toralba, a resident of Purok Sunrise in the said barangay.
In a radio interview, Barangay Kagawad Joseph Inong said he witnessed the incident as he was having coffee when the suspects arrive. The barangay official initially believed the suspects were only loitering but he was surprised upon hearing gunshots and seeing Toralba dead on the ground.
The suspects fled towards EB Magalona.
Based on reports by police, prior to the shooting, Toralba brought his child to the E. Lopez Elementary School on his motorcycle.
The victim had reportedly been receiving death threats and survived an attempt on his life two months ago.
Investigators are presently eyeing multiple motives in the incident, including it possibly being work-related or due to a love triangle, as claimed by Toralba’s wife./DGB, WDJ
