Both the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) and New People’s Army (NPA) Leonardo Panaligan Command separately condemned the recent killing of Atty. Benjamin Ramos, Jr., secretary-general for human rights group, the National Union of the People’s Lawyers-Negros (NUPL-Negros).

In a statement sent yesterday, PRO-6 director, Police Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, condemned the incident, saying, he has since ordered an investigation into the incident.

He added, initial investigations disclosed the victim was a founding NUPL member and served as a lawyer for suspected rebels and drug users.

“We will provide update once investigation has been completed,” he assured.

Meanwhile, NPA Leonardo Panaligan Command spokesperson Ka JB Regalado called Ramos a “known defender and human rights advocate, a good person, and has no enemies.”

He added, they would also conduct their own investigation into the killing./DGB, WDJ
