Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently declared this year’s MassKara Festival, which came to a close over the weekend, a “success,” calling it “generally peaceful.”

The mayor said both Police Regional Office-6 and the Bacolod City Police Office informed him “only minor incidents” took place this year. He noted, the number of incidents was lower than last year’s figures, dropping from 64 to 40.

According to his personal observation, Leonardia said the crowds gathered along the Lacson Tourism Strip and the Bacolod City Government Center were the “biggest.”

The mayor also expressed his appreciation for the visiting dignitaries, including President Rodrigo Duterte.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang, who served as Silver Masskara Festival Organization action officer, credited social media for the festival’s success./DGB, WDJ
