Inmate escapes MBDJ, captured 17 hours later

A hospitalized Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ) inmate managed to escape, but was recaptured within 17 hours.

Police identified the inmate as Elvis Pescadilla, a resident of Paglaum Village in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Based on a statement by MBDJ inmates, Pescadilla was cuffed and seating on a wheelchair awaiting treatment at a hospital. While waiting, Pescadilla’s guard went to the comfort room and, upon return, the inmate was gone.

Pescadilla reportedly ran out of the hospital and boarded a taxi.

After 17 hours, Police Station 7 personnel managed to track down his whereabouts and was re-arrested at Purok Paraiso in Barangay Mansilingan yesterday morning.

The inmate was immediately returned to the MBDJ facility in Barangay Taculing, where is detained on illegal drugs charges./DGB, WDJ
