The Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) and the Iloilo City Police Office will be launching the “Ilonggo Kontra Vandalismo” program next month, which seeks to combat vandalism in the city.
“The initiative aims to stop the vulgar vandalism in the metropolis and to keep the youth away from this kind of bad habit,” explained PSTMO head Jeck Conlu. “To everyone, especially to the youth, I am asking for your cooperation and support to this program.”
He also said penalties for violators needs to be increased.
“I will be asking the city council to revise the penalty,” the city official stated. “From a P5,000 penalty, I propose the violators should pay P50,000 plus [serve] 100 hours of community service.”
A symposium regarding the initiative is planned for students, gang leaders, and fraternities./WDJ
