Drug suspect arrested in Pontevedra anti-drug operation

An suspected drug personality was arrested last Tuesday afternoon following a buy-bust operation at Sitio Hunob in Barangay Gomez, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Kenneth Lago, a resident of Purok Bougainvillea in Barangay Antipolo, located in the said town.

Pontevedra municipal police chief, Police Senior Inspector Rhojn Darell Nigos, said, on the day of the suspect’s arrest, authorities has been contacting Lago in order to purchase illegal drugs.

They eventually received a text from Lago saying he would retrieve his shabu stock in Bacolod City and the supply would be available that afternoon.

The suspect was arrested that afternoon, after selling one sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P500.

Police recovered an additional five sachets of suspected shabu valued around P20,000.

Cops also recovered the suspect’s mobile phone and a lighter.

Lago is facing charges in violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./DGB, WDJ
