Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who was in Bacolod City over the weekend for the 1st Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation MassKara Zubiri Cup Arnis Tournament at the St. John’s Institute Covered Court, yesterday called on Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission officials to set their differences aside.

“We are hoping, for the sake of national unity and for the sake of winning the overall championship this coming 2019 Southeast Asian Games, I hope they unite,” he said in regard to quarreling groups within each organization.

Meanwhile, the arnis competition saw around 400 participants from across the region.

He describes the martial art as “unassuming, yet so effective, so complex, and yet so simple, so graceful.”/DGB, WDJ
