With the certificate of candidacy filing deadline closing last Wednesday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City released the full list of candidates vying for city posts in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
They confirmed three candidates would be running for the city’s top post, incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia, former City Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, and radio personality Ray Carmona; along with former Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson taking on the incumbent, El Cid Familiaran.
In the race for lone district congressman, the Comelec noted a third candidate would be running alongside incumbent Rep. Greg Gasataya and former Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella, independent candidate Jan Kevin Moises.
Meanwhile, there are a total of 27 candidates for Sangguniang Panlungsod members, nine of which are incumbents./DGB, WDJ
