After the Canetown Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Victorias Milling Company, provided 10 hectares of land in Victorias City for the purpose of developing a socialized housing project, a meeting was recently held to discuss developments.

Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez met with Engr. Alejandro Ongsuco of the National Housing Authority (NHA), Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, Victorias City Housing Officer Primilo Solinap, among others on incorporating the land as part of the NHA Resettlement Assistance Program.

Through the program, NHA provides the locality with grants up to P25 million, while the city government can borrow an additional P25 million in interest-free loans./WDJ
