In response to the deadly Lanao del Sur ambush that claimed the lives of five Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents, PDEA-Region VI (PDEA-6) recently revealed they will be strengthening security measures during their operations.
In a radio interview yesterday morning, PDEA-6 spokesperson David Garcia said they are now extra cautious whenever they conduct anti-drug operations.
Despite the risks, however, Garcia said it will not stop them in their campaign against illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, he also confirmed several politicians in the region have visited their office to clear their names after they were accused of having links to illegal drugs by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Garcia noted, however, their office does not have the authority to remove individuals from the president’s “narco list.”/DGB, WDJ
