Ahead of next year’s midterm elections, Vice President Leni Robredo, who was in Bacolod City yesterday, called on voters to support “deserving” candidates.
Referencing the currently low popularity ratings for opposition candidates, the vice president said, “We want to present an alternative who may not be popular.”
“If [voters] see you, talk to you, and feel you are a true person, they change their attitude,” she explained.
Robredo acknowledged President Rodrigo Duterte continues to be popular throughout the country but noted, “It should not be a reason to vote for someone, just because he or she is popular.”
Meanwhile, she said her party, the Liberal Party, should only field eight contenders in the 2019, adding, “We want to offer quality candidates.”/DGB, WDJ
