After a 2.8-magnitude earthquake was recorded just west of Bugasong, Antique last Monday, seismic activity measuring 2.2 in magnitude was recorded yesterday afternoon in Anini-y, located just over 100 kilometers south of the initial epicenter.
According to a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletin, no damage was recorded as a result of the incident nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor.
Last month, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck east of Valderrama, Antique.
Next month, Antique will be hosting the fourth quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
According to Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick Train, the drill will be held in San Jose de Buenavista, the province’s capital, with an estimated 3,000 expected to participate./WDJ
