Secondary boys’ football underway

The secondary boys’ football competition of the 38th Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) season, opened over the weekend at the STI-West Negros University (STI-WNU) pitch.
Hosts and defending champions STI-WNU opened their title defense with an 8-0 blowout against St. John’s Institute, their second defeat after earlier losing 1-0 to Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI).
Maranatha Christian College also suffered two losses after being crushed 7-0 by the University of St. La Salle (USLS) and 16-0 by the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R).
On Saturday, September 29, STI-WNU plays DBTI, while USLS meets UNO-R.
Meanwhile, the elementary football, futsal, and basketball competitions, along with secondary tennis and volleyball competitions are scheduled to kick off this weekend.
In addition, table tennis will be played on Saturday at the Visayan Maritime Academy Global College gymnasium./JSG, WDJ
