With regard to plans to privatize the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa), Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the plan is “not bad.”
During a press conference yesterday, he said, while he is not outrightly endorsing the proposal, there are many cases where privatization became successful.
In a radio interview, Baciwa Employees Union President Claudio Salmo said they are now conducting an evaluation after the Baciwa Board of Directors passed a resolution to entertain an unsolicited proposal by the MetroPac Water Investments Corporation, Prime Water Infrastructure Corporation, and the Manila Water Company Inc. for a public private partnership.
The mayor also called on Baciwa chairman Lorendo Dilag to solve the city’s water shortage problem./DGB, WDJ
