Marañon: People fly from Manila just for Negrense cuisine
Amid the ongoing Negros Occidental Environment Week, which recently held a “food parade,” Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. credited food for an uptick in tourism, where he stated Negrense food is different from other parts of the country because it is fresh.
“These are heirloom dishes and specialty delicacies,” he said. “[The] tourism industry here in the province is increasing by leaps and bounds because of its food.”
The governor went on to tout the local tourism industry as having “big potential” and suggested it be “multiplied” to “the level of the sari-sari stores.”
During his address, he also remarked on the reported draw of local cuisine.
“There are even those from Manila who fly in just to eat Negrense food and fly out soon after,” he stated./WDJ
