Following the recent passage of an amended version of the bill changing Bacolod City’s Charter Day from October 19 to June 18, Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. said Bacolod City lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya “entirely disregarded” the significance of the October 19 celebration.

The city councilor said, unlike the congressman’s initial bill, the updated legislation celebrates and commemorates the significance of October 19.

“The word ‘charter’ is just an instrument,” Gamboa said. “What is important is the celebration and the commemoration.”

He also expressed his satisfaction with the amended legislation.
